    BIO:
     
    Hi! I am Mr. Arroyo. This is my 12th year as a teacher and my 9th year at Willard Intermediate. I earned a Bachelors of Science Degree in Kinesiology and a Single Subject Teaching Credential from California State University, Fullerton. In addition, I earned a Masters Degree in Educational Counseling and a Pupil Personnel Service Credential from Azusa Pacific University.

    VISION:

    Willard’s physical education department aims to develop students who are knowledgeable, skilled, and fit, practice positive character traits, exemplify good sportsmanship, and value an active lifestyle. We provide engaging, and inviting activities that are developmentally appropriate using a differentiated approach where all students are capable of achieving success. 

    MISSION:

    My mission as a Physical Education teacher is to motivate students to seek a healthy and physically active lifestyle. 

     

    California State Content Standards for Physical Education
     
    Standard 1:   Students demonstrate the motor skills and movement patterns needed to perform a variety of physical activities.
    Standard 2:   Students demonstrate knowledge of movement concepts, principles, and strategies that apply to the learning and performance of physical activities.
    Standard 3:   Students assess and maintain a level of physical fitness to improve health and performance.
    Standard 4:   Students demonstrate knowledge of physical fitness concepts, principles, and strategies to improve health and performance.
    Standard 5:   Students demonstrate and utilize knowledge of psychological and sociological concepts, principles, and strategies that apply to the learning and performance of physical activity.
     

    GRADING POLICY (Daily Point System)

    60% Participation/ Motor Learning

    Students are expected to dress out and PARTICIPATE daily
    Development of motor skills and movement knowledge; transfer and application of skills

    Students are expected to give their best EFFORT during class activities

    30% Assessment

     
    Students will be expected to complete all skill and fitness assessments


    10% Homework

    Daily exercises that are to be written in student agenda and completed at home each night. Parent is to verify after student completion and sign the agenda at the end of the week.


     

    CLASS EXPECTATIONS:

     1.       Proper dress: physical education uniform & athletic shoes
