In 2011 the Century Book Club met the Author of Evermore (The Immortals Series), Alyson Noel, who graciously donated some of her books to our book club library!  Thank you Ms. Noel!
In 2012 the Century Book Club read The Hunger Games then saw the movie when it came out!
We also read Beastly then watched the dvd together!
Our Century library received 11 Nooks with many young adult novels on them.  They are available for checkout in the library!!
In 2013 we ended the year with over 60 participating members!!  Members also participated in reading the final 3 novels in competition for the California Young Reader Medal for 2012-2013.  We read Matched by Ally Condie, Beautiful Creatures by Kami Garcia and Margaret Stohl, and The Things a Brother Knows by Dana Reinhardt.  Then each student voted on their favorite as did students all across California.  And the winner is...Matched!
This year: Check us out on Edmodo for suggestions and opinions on the latest and the greatest!
Students with electronic reading devices:  Check out Overdrive Media Console(a free app.)-it is an ebook and audiobook library at the Orange County Public Library for anyone with a library card!  Get your library cards or renew them now.  You only need to physically visit the library to pick up your library card and set a pin!!  (It usually requires a picture id card and proof of address, like a bill in your parent's name.)  Then check out ebooks online from home or school (or anywhere)!  When they are due, the books magically disappear from your device and deliver themselves to the library on time.  You may also renew books online.
Then go on Edmodo and come to the meetings and tell us what you find!
We have read The Hunger Games, Catching Fire and Mockingjay!  We can't wait for the second part of Mockingjay to be released in theaters and on dvd!!
Last year the TEACH Academy donated beautiful bookshelves and several popular books to our book club library!  Thank you TEACH, Mr. Oveson, and Miss Delia Lucero for making that happen!!
