OVERVIEW OF THE HIGHER EDUCATION CENTER

     The Higher Education Center is located in t8-3 at Valley High School.  Housed in the Higher Ed. Center are the Higher Education Coordinator, Ms. April Gibbs, Assistant Principal of Guidance and Counseling, Ms. Jessica Salcedo, the registrar/Data Entry tech, Ms. Juana Burtnett-Ramirez, and the Valley High School Counseling Team:  Sandra Perez, Gloria Garcia-Ortiz, Edgardo Aguilar, Alex Padilla, Aimee DiLullo, Andres Guillen, Estela Gutierrez, Jordan Chavez, and Blanca Cardenas. Higher Education Centers are on all high school campuses in the Santa Ana Unified School District.  All of the other centers were modeled after Valley High School’s original Academy Center (1999-2005).  The purpose of the center is to provide post-secondary information, and assist students and their parents in discovering options for higher education and careers upon graduation from Valley High School.  Our staff is fortunate to get help with meeting our goals by working closely with representatives from California State University-Fullerton, the University of California-Irvine, and Santa Ana College (members of the Santa Ana Partnership), as well as local community colleges in Irvine, Huntington, and Costa Mesa.

     Students and parents are encouraged to visit the Higher Education Center at Valley High School to keep current with events and activities occurring in our center. Together we can insure all Valley High School graduates have higher education in their future.
