Submit / Check a Work OrderTo provide the best possible service with limited staffing, service calls are prioritized as: Emergency, Urgent, Routine, and Preventive Maintenance. Building Services completes over 1,500 work orders each month. Use the guidance below when submitting requests.
Repairs Only?
Items that restore existing equipment or facilities to working order should be a Work Order.
Projects & Improvements (FER) site-funded
New work or upgrades (power/data adds, walls/finishes, fencing, AC where none existed, access control).
Immediate action to prevent safety/health hazards or significant property damage.
- Flooding, fire, earthquake damage
- Hazards to life or limb
- Broken water main, gas leaks
- Sewer stoppages, unsecured buildings
Manageable condition needing prompt action to safeguard life, health, or District property.
- Heating or air conditioning issues
- Electrical outages
- Graffiti
- Lock problems affecting site operations
- Toilet stoppages, broken windows
Normal importance; work can be scheduled.
- Interior/exterior painting
- Repair of a faucet
- New/replacement keys
- Audio/visual repairs
- Lights, whiteboards
Work generated by the computerized system to avoid failures.
- HVAC filter changes
- Fire alarm testing
- Irrigation checks
- Playground equipment & fencing
- Fire hydrant testing
How to Report or Submit a Service Request

What’s the difference: FER vs. Work Order?
- Work Order = repair/maintenance to existing assets (fix, replace like-for-like, routine service).
- FER = improvement/installation that changes the facility or adds capability (code, ADA, and Board-policy checks required).
