Degrees and Certifications:

Ms. Mercer

I’m originally from Buenos Aires, Argentina where I got my Bachelor's in Computer Science.  In 1992, I moved to California to pursue my Masters's in Education with a focus in Curriculum and Instruction at Chapman University, where I also obtained my Teaching Credential in Mathematics, Spanish, and Computer Science.

I started teaching in Santa Ana in 1994.   I’ve taught sixth, seventh and eighth-grade math and/or Algebra I at Spurgeon, Villa, MacArthur, Lathrop, and Esqueda.  In addition, I’ve been a Middle School Curriculum specialist for the District and a Curriculum Coach at Lathrop.

Outside of school, I enjoy spending time with my grandchildren, adult children, and my two Cockapoos.  I love reading, scrapbooking, and traveling.

My philosophy of education is “the more you understand, the less you need to memorize.”  This is especially true in mathematics!
