Teaching for the past 20 years in Santa Ana Unified School District at Sierra Preparatory Academy and Hector F. Godinez Fundamental High School has been my proving grounds as an educator and human being. Before teaching at Sierra I worked for 7 years at a nonpublic school serving students considered at-risk due to numerous factors that interfered with educational opportunities and disrupted educational and developmental progress.
My favorite subjects to teach are math and language arts, from basic math computation to algebra along with basic phonemic awareness through the writing process. My personal interests span a broad range of ideas and places to people and processes! As an undergraduate student, I studied philosophy while focusing on logic, which piqued my love of conceptual math. Working with disadvantaged youth became a passion as I pursued a master's degree in special education at National University to earn a teaching credential.
Now I am seeking a doctoral degree in Educational Leadership at Concordia University, Irvine, which is scheduled to be completed by 2021. I believe we are all called to be lifelong learners, whether through academic means or experiential learning thru daily challenges to grow and develop.
Let's take a deep dive into learning safely, experientially, collectively, and productively to improve this place we share and illustrate our interconnectedness...we are SAUSD and we are #BetterTogether!
