Degrees and Certifications:

Mrs. Elizabeth Barnes

I have been here at Jim Thorpe Fundamental school since it opened 20 years ago! I had the opportunity to go to UCI for my undergraduate degree and my teaching credential. Later I received a master's degree in educational technology. I have been teaching in Santa Ana for the past 30years! I have had the pleasure of teaching grades K-5 but 4th grade is definitely my favorite. I love learning new languages and I speak Spanish and French. My favorite thing to do in my free time is going to Catalina Island because I love to snorkel and hike. A fun fact about me is that when I was eight years old I lived in Australia for a year.

My primary goal for my students is to help them become the best student they can possibly be and to prepare them for Middle School, High School, and life. I have high expectations for my scholars and they know that I truly want the best for them. I instill in them the ethics that if you work hard, respect others, and do your best, you will succeed. It will be hard but it will be worth it when they excel and feel proud of their accomplishments.

I do need your help as I know you want the best for your child too. Please be sure they do their homework and meet their weekly reading goal. Help them to stay organized, be helpful, and healthy. In addition, make sure that they are treating you and other family members with kindness and respect. The more strick you are with them now, the easier they will be when they get to High School, I promise.

Thank you in advance for supporting your child and their education.

My favorite quote is:
"The more that you read, the more things you will know, the more things that you learn, the more places you'll go."
Dr. Seuss
