Mr. Andy Tang, Assistant Principal
My name is Andy Tang and I am proud to be your Assistant Principal as Carr Intermediate School. I would love to take this moment to tell you a little about myself. I immigrated to the United States when I was two years old as a Vietnamese refugee after the Vietnam War. After my father died in the war, my mother fled the country in hopes of creating a better life for her two kids. With only a third grade education, she opened up a small cosmetics shop in the swap meet, where I helped out every day since I was seven. In 2005, I graduated from CSUF with a degree in mathematics and was the first in my family to get a college degree.
For 14 years, I worked at Santa Ana Unified School District in many different capacities. I started my career at Santa Ana High School. I was a math teacher, department chair, TOSA, and Activities Director there for ten years. I am starting my forth year at Carr Intermediate School. I had many opportunities to work with families and community members at Santa Ana. Although some of us have different cultural backgrounds, I believe we have very similar beliefs. We have a deep rich culture, we don’t shy away from hard work, and we would do whatever it takes to make sure our kids are successful. I have a strong belief that all our kids/students can and will be successful and communication and collaboration between administrators, parents, teachers, and students is essential for that success. I look forward to working with each and every one of you.
This year has been unique. The District asked me to support Willard Intermediate School for the first semester of the year. I will be back at Carr at the start of the second semester. If you need any support, feel free to contact the other Assistant Principals until my return.
