    What is this program?

The Typing Club online program will assist you with learning and improving your typing speed! Students will need teacher instruction on correct physical hand formation.

    How does it work?

Practice each lesson over and over to at least get all three stars. It really doesn't take much to learn, just 10 – 15 minutes a day.

Younger students ( K-2) should focus on lettering placement on the keyboard rather than speed.

Using this program, it is reasonable to expect students grades three on to type at 10 – 15 words per minute after 15 – 18 hours of instruction.  From there practice on your normal typing activities to increase your speed to 40 - 90 words per minute.

What instructional method should I use?

Effective ways to teach keyboarding is to initially start with direct instruction on figure positioning, hand posture and body posture while seated. This can be done through:

    1. Lab instruction with whole class by classroom teacher

    2. Small group rotation using classroom computers

    When should students begin practicing?

K – 1: Focus on the letter placement on the keyboard, Lessons 1 – 35

Grade 2: Focus on the Shift Key: Lessons 50 – 56, Numbers: Lessons 71 – 76 along with the advanced levels 57 – 70 and 77 - 90 practice not for speed but for accuracy.

    Grade 3+: Complete advanced levels 36 – 90 plus Symbols: 91 – 100.

    Is it really free?

Yes. TypingClub is (and will always be) 100% free, ad free, Spam free, etc.

    Do I need an account?

You do not need to create an account. However, as you go through the lessons, you will get prompted to create an optional profile in order to save your progress.

What type of account do I need?

Each student will need a Google account in order to save their progress. This account will allow them to work in the lab, classroom or home.

What computer browser do I need to use?

These current computer web browsers and several of their earlier versions support Typing Club:

    Safari 7.0

    Internet Explorer 10

    Firefox 25

    Chrome  30
