Ms. Silva has been coaching high performing Academic Pentathlon teams since 2000. Grade level teams study a themed, 450 page study guide over a 5 month period of time, and then compete against other public and private schools across Orange County. Some of the topics we have learned about include: Africa, World War II, India, the 1960's, and Illness & Wellness. They compete in 5 subject areas including Math, Liturature (novel/essay), Science, Social Science, and Fine Arts (music/visual arts) as individuals, and in a team format called Super Quiz. They earn both individual and team medals as well as earn a school plaque for their achievements. MacArthur Pentathletes know that teamwork and hard work pay off!
