• Gamification Guide 

    What is Gamification?  
    It refers to service design aiming to provide game-like experiences. In practice, gamification commonly applies to non-game applications and processes. Gamification's proponents argue that it works by making technology more engaging, by encouraging users to engage in desired behaviors, by showing a path to mastery and autonomy, by helping to solve problems and being more engaging, and by taking advantage of humans' psychological predisposition to engage in gaming.     Welcome to the Academy Gamification Guide.  In this comprehensive guide, you will find all the aspects of Mr. Gersten's "Gamified" Classroom.  In the gamified classroom, students do not move ahead without showing mastery of the content and meeting the minimum experience point requirements to move to the next level.

    Achievement Badges: 

    Achievement badges are earned throughout the year for meeting various achievements in class. Students can use earned badges for rewards and are tracked in the classroom. Below are the current achievements available to students in my the class and they are awarded through the Edmodo platform.

    This is awarded to students who make the top ten highest scores for any task sheet throughout the year

    Participated in 5 "Dressed for Success" days in class. Students must come dressed and remain dressed for success for the school day. This Badge can be earned more than once. You earn 1 academy dollar and 5 extra credit points each time you dress.

    This is awarded to any student who has perfect attendance (defined as no tardies or absences) for the 6 week grading period.
