    Science Class Information      Ms Park

     

     

    Rules

     

     

        1. Don't do anything that would embarrass Ms Park to be your teacher.

     

     

        2. Be respectful to others at all times.

     

     

        3. Respect other's property.  (If it's not yours, don't touch it!)

     

     

        4. Cheating is not tolerated.  If caught, you are assigned zero & parents are informed.

     

     

    Absences

     

     

    When teacher is absent the only rule is...

     

     

             "Behave better for the substitute than you do for Ms Park"

     

     

    When student is absent, you are responsible for...

     

     

    a) checking the grade sheet for any assignments given or turned in.

     

     

    b) asking a classmate for any notes taken (leave pages blank until you fill in)

     

     

    c) asking the teacher for any worksheets needed by title

     

     

    d) arranging a time after school to make up tests; zeros do not just disappear.

     

     

                      Missing one test usually brings your grade down by 2 letter grades.

     

     

    Definition of Tardy-When you are not in your assigned seat when bell rings with   

     

     

             3-ring binder, paper, composition book, textbook, and pen/sharpened pencil. 

     

     

    Detention is assigned for the FIRST tardy.

     

     

    Detentions are doubled with each continued violation.  1st - 15 min.  2nd - 30 min. 

     

     

             3rd - 1 hr.  4th - 2 hrs.  and so on in ADDITION to CHS policies (referrals, etc)

     

     

    Electronic Devices  School policy forbids electronic devices on campus. 

     

     

    Any that are seen or heard will confiscated until June 15th or parent conference.

     

     

    Start of Each Period  Every day there will be on the screen or board a list of

     

     

    instructions to start the class.  Students are expected to begin as soon as they are seated.  The teacher does NOT begin the class; the list of instructions does. 

     

     

    Do not enter the room and WAIT for a show to begin.  There is no show!

     

     

    Class Dismissal  The clock does not dismiss the class, the teacher does.

     

     

    Red Rabbits

     

     

    1. Red rabbits are like coupons worth 1 point of extra credit. 

     

     

    2. Red rabbits expire the day before your semester final exam.

     

     

    3. Sign your RR's in ink for your own protection.  Unsigned RR's will be confiscated.

     

     

    4. For credit tape only the top corner of the diamond to an assignment or test before

     

     

        turning in.  Used red rabbits will be crossed out.

     

     

    5. Red rabbits are a privilege, which can be cancelled for everyone at anytime if even

     

     

        one person abuses (buys, sells, steals, counterfeits) this privilege.

    Notebooks  You will have a separate 3-ring binder for just science.  Keep it organized. 

     

     

    Notebooks are collected without warning.

     

     

    Composition Book - Journal/Lab Notebook & Notes

     

     

    You will have a composition book in class every day

     

     

             a) It must be bound with at least 50 8x10 sheets for 1 semester.  (No spirals)

     

     

    b) No graffiti.  Permanent ink only.  No whiteout correction fluid.

     

     

    c) When you make a mistake, line it out, date and initial.

     

     

    Ex:  It is important to come to class on tem     time

     

     

    d) Like notebooks, they are collected for grading without notice.

     

     

    The front part of the composition book is for class notes

     

     

    a) You may use permanent ink or colored pencils only.  No whiteout.

     

     

    b) If you are absent on a notes day, ask a friend how many pages you will need

     

     

                      to fill in later.  You are responsible for the class notes no matter what.

     

     

    The reverse part will be your science journal and lab notebook.

     

     

      Daily Science Journal

     

     

           a) The journal prompt is part of the day's beginning instructions (exc test dys.) 

     

     

           b) Ea day you're on time, you have 5 min to copy the date & prompt, then respond.

     

     

           c) Ms Park will stamp your entry before you leave.  Do not leave without a stamp

     

     

                The stamp is 1 pt of participation.  This cannot be made up if you are absent.

     

     

           d) Please leave one blank line between daily entries for ease of reading.

     

     

       Lab Notebook

     

     

    a) Leave a blank area near the title and date that is large enough for a stamp.

     

     

    b) In order for you to do the experiment, your pre-lab must be complete.

     

     

    c) All results are recorded directly into the lab notebook during the lab.

     

     

    d) Results & Conclusions (steps V and VI) will be written in the lab notebook as

     

     

    well as on separate pages to turn in the following period.

     

     

    How to Do Questions Assigned from the Textbook

     

     

    1. Copy the entire first question.

     

     

    2. Write a complete answer (doesn't have to be a complete sentence)

     

     

    3. Leave the same number of lines blank as your answer.

     

     

    4. Go on to the next question.  Repeat.
