During the junior year, we will focus on:

PSAT, SAT, and ACT preparation

• Preparing for the PSAT, given in October
• Exploring the structure and format of the SAT and ACT tests
• CollegeSpring program
• Online programs such as khanacademy.org and collegeboard.org
• Practice tests to prepare for the rigor of the exams
• Preparation for the writing portion of the exams
• Students can earn extra credit by practicing for the SAT and/or the ACT at home

 College Exploration

• Research possible college choices so students are prepared for the first semester of their senior year.  Each student will create his/her own college list.
• Use resources such as the text The Princeton Review: The Best 378 Colleges or websites such as BigFuture.org or CollegeGreenLight.com
• Guest speakers for colleges and careers
• Differences between the UC System, the Cal State System, and Private Colleges
• Applying for scholarships
• Preparation for filling out college applications, including the essays
• Majors and Careers Research Project
• College Research Program

• Tutorial Grade Analysis

• Self Assessment
• UC Personal Insight Questions
• Socratic seminars
• Organization of Senior Exit Portfolio
