All Consultants Who Work with the Santa Ana Unified School District Must Provide Evidence on Liability Insurance.Consultants May Purchase Insurance Through the SPARTA ProgramThe Service Providers and Artisan Tradesmen Activities (SPARTA) Program is designed to provide Commercial General, Excess General, Professional, Non-Owed Automobile and Excess Automobile Liability Insurance to tradesmen, artisans and contractors who would not otherwise be able to provide the insurance required by the Santa Ana Unified School District. The standard coverage includes General Liability, Personal and Advertising Injury, Products/Completed Operations and Fire legal. The contractor or consultant pays the SPARTA insurance program. The program allows small local contractors and tradesmen to bid on Santa Ana Unified School District projects. SPARTA provides quotes over the phone to the individual contractor/consultant. Upon receipt of payment from the contractors, the Santa Ana Unified School District will receive a certificate of insurance naming the District as an additional insured. The certificate cannot be cancelled without the approval of the District and confirms coverage has not lapsed or been cancelled by the contractor in the middle of an existing agreement.
How does SPARTA Work?
-
The artisan, consultant, contractor, vendor or tradesmen would call the toll free 800 number. A licensed professional would determine the scope of work performed and what coverage is required by the Santa Ana Unified School District. After ascertaining the kind of work performed and the length of the contract SPARTA would fax or mail the potential contractors a quotation. This document contains specific information required to purchase the coverage. If the contractor/consultant elects to use the SPARTA PROGRAM, they would then send a cashier's check or money order for the amount of the premium. Upon receipt of this, SPARTA will issue a Certificate of Insurance and coverage will be activated. The SPARTA Program offers premium financing on annual policies with premiums greater than $1,000.00. The SPARTA website is www.2sparta.com which SPARTA provides for payment by credit card.At the end of each month, SPARTA provides the District with a copy of all the contractors, vendors and tradesmen who have been issued coverage through the program. This report includes that name of the contractor, the contract or voucher number, when available, the premium paid, department requesting the coverage and what lines of coverage were written. A copy of each certificate issued will be attached to this report. Santa Ana Unified School District will also receive a claims status report of any new or ongoing claims. SPARTA will notify the participating certificate holder sixty (60) days prior to expiration of coverage and notify the Santa Ana Unified School District of any contractors/consultants who fail to renew their coverage.
