Second Annual Event Recognizes Accomplishments of Students

SANTA ANA, CA March 23, 2012 – Century High School will be honoring more than 1,200 outstanding 9th through 12th grade students at its second annual Centurion Week held March 26th –29th.  The students who are all meeting their grade level credit goals will be recognized at a celebratory luncheon and photo shoot. 

The event kicks-off with a school assembly and honoree photo shoot on Monday, March 26th from 9 – 10:30am.  Community leaders will join school Principal, Lucinda Pueblos, and Santa Ana Unified School District Superintendent, Dr. Thelma Meléndez de Santa Ana, to congratulate the honorees at the all-school assembly.  “We are very proud of these students for making the commitment to achieve their scholastic goals each and every year,” said Meléndez. “It is our goal to ensure our students are career and college ready, and these fine young men and women are setting a wonderful example.”

Luncheons will be held for each grade level during the rest of the week at the 11:30am and 12:30pm lunch breaks.  Seniors will be hosted on Monday, March 26th; Juniors will be hosted on Tuesday, the 27th; Sophomores on Wednesday, March 28th; and Freshman on Thursday, March 29th.

Santa Ana Unified School District (SAUSD) educates approximately 56,000 students at 61 dynamic school sites throughout the Santa Ana community. The K-12 school district is the largest in Orange County and the second largest employer in Santa Ana, with approximately 4,500 educators and staff members. SAUSD boasts 28 California Distinguished Schools, five National Blue Ribbon Schools, and two 2011 National Blue Ribbon nominees. In addition, Saddleback High, Valley High and Santa Ana High School were named as three of the most improved high schools in Orange County for students passing the California High School Exit Exam.
