SCHOOL BOARD APPROVES 2017-2018 CALENDAR AND SUBSEQUENT TWO YEARS
With the primary focus on what is in the best interest of students, the Santa Ana Unified School District Board of Education approved a start date of August 14, 2017, for students to begin the 2017-18 school year. The Board cited that there were many advantages of starting the school year earlier including ending the fall semester before the Winter Recess, providing more time for instruction for students taking Advancement Placement testing, and the opportunity to end the school year earlier gives students more flexibility to participate in early summer programs and compete for summer employment. The last day of school for students is May 31, 2018. Students will have a two-week break during the Winter Recess.
The Board approved calendars for 2018-19, and 2019-20 to
provide consistency and to provide parents and staff with ample notice of when
school is in session.
