On behalf of Romero-Cruz Elementary School staff, I would like towelcome you to the 2015/16 school year. Aswe begin a new school year, it is important to refocus our efforts on providingbest learning experiences for all our students. Our teachers and staff are committed to lead our young learners by implementinga rigorous curriculum that is content-rich and flexible to personalizeinstruction and meet the learning goals of individual students. In preparation for the start of the newschool year, please review the information below.
Public schools’ research indicates that students who are committed toattending school regularly (daily) are more likely to experience success andreach their academic goals.
Positive School Climate
Romero-Cruz Elementary students and staff are active participants inthe Positive Behavioral Intervention and Supports (PBIS) Program. Everyone works together in creating andmaintaining a safe, nurturing learning environment. At the beginning of the school year, allstudents receive explicit instruction regarding schoolwide academic andbehavioral expectations.
Parent involvement is key to student success. At Romero-Cruz Elementary, we value andencourage parent participation in classroom projects and fieldtrips, schoolevents, parent meetings, classes and workshops. Our English as Second Language (ESL) adult class is scheduled to beginon Wednesday, September 2, 2015 at 8:30 AM. In addition to ESL adult classes, this year we will offer College andCareer Readiness workshops and computer classes for our parents and the school community. Students should wear solid red, white,or navy blue collared shirts. Studentsmay wear pants, shorts, skirts or jumpers, all of which must be navy blue. Students may only wear solid red, white, ornavy blue sweaters, sweatshirts, jackets, or vests. Jeansof any color, style, or material, are not permitted. On Fridays students may wear Spirit or college/university shirts, sweaters,sweatshirts, jackets.?xml:namespace>

First Day of School, Tuesday, September 1, 2015
· Students arrive starting at 7:15 AM
· Breakfast and lunch are available to allstudents at no cost (lunch applications are no longer required)
Regular School Days
· School day begins at 8:00 AM
· School day ends at 2:25 PM
· Select Wednesdays are modified for staff collaboration?xml:namespace>

· School day ends at 1:20 PM
